State Council Art Contest Rules

1. The contest coordinator shall be the IA Pheasants Forever Council.

2. The contest shall be held on Friday, September 5th, 2008 at the IA P.F. State convention at 7 p.m. at Living History Farms in Urbandale, Iowa.

3. ENTRY DEADLINE: Entries will be considered official when REGISTERED AND ON DISPLAY at the judging site no later than 6:45 p.m. on Friday, September 5th, 2008.

4. The ARTIST shall be responsible to deliver (or have delivered) the entry to the contest (the actual judging site - where it must be registered as being present and on display.

5. All artwork must be removed (by the artist or designated person) immediately following the competition on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

6. All contestants are hereby notified of the advisability of obtaining adequate property coverage for their respective entries. The Pheasant Forever Art Committee/Council will not/does not insure the entries, and will not be responsible for any damages including, but not limited to, those incurred by shipping, fire, vandalism, theft, or by any mishandling.

7. The contest shall be open to all interested Iowa artist, 18 years or older.

8. Artist may submit a maximum of two entries to the contest.

9. Image Size: All entries, regardless of media used, shall be no smaller than 18" x 24", and no larger than 24" x 36". Please feel free to use round, oval square or rectangle shaped paintings.

10. Artists must not sign the painting. Any painting that is signed on the front will be removed from the contest.

11. Ownership of all original artwork will be retained by the artist. Reprints of the winning entry are at the sole discretion of the art committee.

12. Subject Matter: The main subject matter of the print is open.

13. A painting may be only entered for competition twice. This includes past entries.

14. The design must be the entrant’s own original creation and may not be copied or duplicated from previously published works.

15. Your entries MUST NOT be framed. You will be allowed to use a 2-3 inch white matting on the outside, but no frame. No other form of enhancement is required or allowed.

16. The judging of your state print will be done by the attending PF members. It will be determined by popular vote.

17. The winning artist shall make the winning entry available to the IA P.F. Art Committee immediately following the contest.

18. The runner-ups will be presented with an award ribbon, and a check for placement as follows: - Winner = Plaque, Ribbon, (& $1500 upon completion of printing/delivery)
- 1st Runner Up = $200, ribbon
- 2nd Runner Up = $150, ribbon
- 3rd Runner Up = $100, ribbon
- 4th Runner Up = $50, ribbon
